We have the following vacancies at our plant:

BONING ROOM SUPERVISOR

South Pacific Meats Ltd, Malvern is a modern sheep and beef processing plant at Burnham, south of Christchurch.  We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified supervisor to lead our boning room.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is charged with the responsibility of ensuring; production, quality, yield, customer and regulatory requirements are achieved.

While previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage, we will consider applicants with proven leadership skills and relevant experience.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership skills,
  • Previous experience in a role focused on productivity, yield, cost and quality control,
  • Knowledge of beef and/or lamb boning and further processing requirements,
  • Sound understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in meat processing,
  • Good computer skills,
  • A commitment to health and safety.

BONING TRAINER/KNIFE TUTOR

The objectives of this role are to train beef boners/trimmers and to provide knife training to all knife hands.

To be considered for this position you should have:

  • Demonstrated beef boning skills,  bobby calf, lamb and venison experience would also be an advantage
  • Knife sharpening skills
  • Ability to train and mentor others
  • It would be an advantage to be an accredited NZITO trainer

EXPERIENCED PROCESSING STAFF

We are seeking experienced processing staff for an immediate start.

  • BEEF BONERS AND TRIMMERS
  • LAMB BONERS/SAWMEN AND TRIMMERS
  • LAMB BUTCHERS – Y Cut, gutty/pelter, Halal Slaughter
  • BEEF SLAUGHTER – hide puller, halving saw, flanker, Halal Slaughter

    While previous experience in the above roles would be an advantage, we will offer training to applicants with previous knife experience, a proven work ethic, good references and  who are willing to make a committment to the meat industry.

Competitive pay rates, combined with an extended season, make this an attractive Industry option.

PROCESS WORKERS

We are seeking process workers for a late November start.

Previous meat or food processing experience and knife handling experience preferred.  However we will offer training to applicants willing to learn and make a committment to the meat industry.

 NOTE

We require a clear drug test and a copy of ACC history before applicants can be considered for a position at our plant.
